Hello folks, Don`t know about you, but I really feel the cold generally, so you can imagine what I`m like on the slope despite lots of layers etc etc. so after I saw the following item on a certain auction site, I thought it`s got to be worth a try. It`s an army quilted tank under suit (sounds good anyway) Just waiting for it to arrive, so once i`ve slope tested it, I`ll let you know how good it is....I hope! By the way, that`s not me in the picture, that`s the pic from the auction site (I`m not that good looking). Bye for now.

Hi SteadyKev. As a teenager, I bought a tank suit from an Army & Navy Surplus stores, that was in the 70s! Didn't learn to fly until many years later, so I never wore it while flying on a slope, but used it over many winters on a motorbike. If my purchase was anything to go by, you will be warm enough. Not sure the tank suit will be waterproof, but only idiots fly in the wet! What I use now though, having felt very cold on a couple of occasions, is a thinsulate hat, skiing salopettes and boots, a fleece and a waterproof jacket. Best regards, Jef

Hi Jef, glad your keeping warm now with all your gear. The tank suit is listed as an under suit, so your right it won`t be water proof, but, like you, I have a water proof coat, along with thinsulate hat and boots. I just needed something to insulate my ever aging body from the cold/wind, so we will see The proof of the pudding and all that
As a footnote, I also wear goggles when its really windy to stop my eyes watering so much. I probably look a right twit but who cares......as long as I can keep flying, that`s the main thing
Cheers for now

Hi folks, Well, the tank suit has arrived and i`ve `paraded` it in front of the wife.......have to say, she is still rolling around laughing. Seriously though, it fits a treat and is well insulated so should be ideal on the slope. Once tested, I`ll get back to you with the verdict.
See ya all.

Hello all, Well, the `tank suit` has been tested today. Temp was 3 degrees in the car park and on the slope it was blowing 25mph + so felt like -3. Have to say though, I was as warm as toast. Absolutely brilliant. Excellent value at under a tenner including p&p. Ended up flying for around 6 hours and could have carried on but for the rain. Happy and warm slope soaring folks.
