Have had quite a few ideas on names,Jef, but have not really settled on one as yet. Provisionally called It "Watts New" but seem to be lingering towards "Eastern Clipper". Several people have asked me for the plan but it is so much effort to draw it out. My plans are very basic as being an ex toolmaker, we seemed to do most things off the back of a fag packet. But the biggest surprise was a request to kit it from abroad

No afraid not John, to old in the tooth to go down that route again now. Someone else has expressed an interest, but not in this country.

Now test flown and very pleased with the result, meets all my expectations which is a rare thing in a new model.

Well done Brian, nice pics. It does look very nice in the air shot. The horizontal stab moment looked like it might be a bit short in the workshop shot - obviously that was just an optical illusion. The camera never lies, but it never tells the whole truth either.
Anyway, well done on a Great job, can't wait to have a stir of your sticks!

If anything the nose moment arm turned out to be a bit short, on what I wanted. Had to add about an ounce of nose weight, to get the CG where it felt right. It was just that I wanted to use a lighter battery than the 3 cell 2200 to get the weight down and used a Hacker A20 -6 with GBox which are approx. 130 grams. If it had a Kontronik 480 with GBox would probably right on the money.
It really is a delight to fly and far exceeded my expectations and is the closest I have come to a moulded model, but handles better than most of them that I have. Turns very flat, with no tendency to drop a wing in the turns and responds to rudder only as well. Another design feature that works well, is that the droop nose handles the climb better, in as much as the tendency to loop over is nullified.
Well as a Mode 1 flyer Jef, you may well get a chance to have a go on the sticks at some time.
